Our Story

Meet the founder

Hi, I'm Niki

Founder of Unchained Canvas. I never planned to start a business. I just wanted my own walls to say something true, and I couldn't find art that did. This page is the story of how that small frustration became Unchained.

Why I started Unchained

A few years ago my faith felt like something I only carried on Sundays. My home, the place where I actually live my life, said nothing about it. The walls were filled with generic prints I'd bought because they matched the couch, not because they meant anything.

It changed when I stood in my grandmother's hallway, in front of the painting of Jesus that has hung there my whole life. I realized I couldn't walk past it without feeling something: calm, seen, reminded. Her whole house felt like that. Mine didn't.

So I went looking for Christian art for my own home, and what I found made my heart sink. Blurry mass-printed posters. Canvases that arrived wrinkled, faded within a year, made by companies pushing thousands of designs through an algorithm with no love behind any of them. Art about the most important thing in my life, treated like the cheapest thing in the store.

That's why Unchained exists. Every piece we release is shaped by real creative direction, with intention and prayer behind it, printed on museum-grade canvas that's stretched by hand and made to last for decades. Art you'll still be standing in front of years from now, the way I still stand in my grandmother's hallway.

"I wanted walls that whisper peace over the people I love. That's the whole company, really."

— Niki Lubowicz, Founder

Bigger than decor

Unchained was never meant to stop at your walls. 10% of our profits go to Leprazending, helping children affected by leprosy get the medicine and care they need. When you hang one of our canvases, a part of that moment travels much further than your hallway.
